In 1976, Cadillac had introduced the Eldorado Biarritz, in tribute to the Biarritz models that had become so popular during the mid-1950s and continued into the 1960s. For 1978, the Biarritz option added a convertible-like padded vinyl top, unique script, body chrome moldings, and accent stripes. The Biarritz package included opera lamps, remote-control passenger-side mirror, and color-coordinated wheel discs. A Custom Biarritz Classic option was also available, which added a two-tone paint scheme.
